Security Policies and Procedures <br />should take an hour. The restore process should take an hour or two, once the files are <br />retrieved. <br />If the process does not work as documented in our policy, it will be updated to reflect <br />the actual procedure we need to implement to achieve successful recovery and <br />operation. <br />Whenever we make changes to software or hardware, we will create/update and test <br />using our Inventory of Devices/Software Assets and store this checklist in the Security <br />Documentation Library. <br />XXX. Network Attached Storage and Workstation Backup Plan <br />A. Overview <br />Virtru recognizes that the backup and maintenance of data in the Network Attached <br />Storage (NAS) and individual workstations are critical to operations. It is essential that <br />certain basic standard practices be followed to ensure that data files are backed up on a <br />regular basis. <br />B. Policy <br />Virtru will be using a Synology DS1515+ Network Attached Storage for backing up all <br />workstations, firewall logs, and video surveillance footage. This data will also be <br />backed up to a Amazon Web Services Glacier account. <br />C. Backup software <br />Virtru uses Cloud Station software to perform all backups. This will be installed on all <br />workstations and must not be disabled by the user for more than one (1) business day. <br />The software will maintain one month of file versions for restoring purposes <br />D. Remote backups <br />Virtru will provide a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for employees to login to for <br />backing up their devices. Credentials for the VPM will be provided to remote <br />employees, and they will be expected to configure their devices properly. If they are <br />unsure, or have issue in setup, the IT department will be available for configuration <br />assistance. <br />E. Local backups <br />Virtru encourages all users to do daily local backups of their data. These backups are to <br />be encrypted using the encryption standards listed below. Any local backups must be <br />surrendered at the time an employee no longer is employed by Virtru. <br />Rev.2015.8.6 <br />
