CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />Asphalt concrete construction shall conform to Section 400, 200, 203, and 302 of the <br />Standard Specifications and these Special Provisions. <br />Tack coat is required and shall be applied and conform to Section 302 of the Standard <br />Specifications. The Contractor shall prevent the tack coat to be applied outside the <br />pavement area. <br />Course aggregate shall consist of material with at least 75% by weight be crushed particles <br />in lieu of the requirements of Section 400-2.3. <br />The asphalt concrete trench pavement replacement for each street shall consist of an asphalt <br />concrete base course and a 2" thick asphalt concrete surface course. The asphalt concrete <br />trench pavement replacement shall be adjusted to match existing street section. <br />Recommendations are as follows: <br />Arterial Streets: <br />Deep lift asphalt concrete pavement consisting of an asphalt concrete Base Course <br />and 2" asphalt concrete Surface Course. Thickness of entire section and base <br />course shall be as shown on plans. In the absence of a detail on the plans, a 12" <br />thick deep lift asphalt concrete pavement consisting of 10" thick asphalt concrete <br />Base Course and 2" asphalt concrete Surface Course shall be constructed. <br />Local Streets: <br />Deep lift asphalt concrete pavement consisting of an asphalt concrete Base Course <br />and 2" asphalt concrete Surface Course. Thickness of entire section and base <br />course shall be as shown on plans. In the absence of a detail on the plans, a 6" thick <br />deep lift asphalt concrete pavement consisting of 4" thick asphalt concrete Base <br />Course and 2" asphalt concrete Surface Course shall be constructed. <br />The required asphalt concrete mix designs shall be as follows: <br />Base Course III-B3-AR-4000 or PG 64-10 <br />Overlay/Surface Course III-C3-AR-4000 or PG 64-10 <br />Crack Filler III-F-AR-4000 or PG 64-10 <br />6.08 PERMANENT PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE (PCC) TRENCH PAVEMENT <br />AND BUS PAD REPLACEMENT <br />PCC pavement replacement shall be at least 6 inches thick and shall be 1 inch thicker than <br />the existing pavement. <br />Existing concrete pavement adjacent to trench operations shall be sawcut and drilled with <br />#4 dowel bars epoxy coated and or approved. <br />
