CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />Notifications: <br />Prior to the start of construction operations, the Contractor shall notify the Police and Fire <br />Departments of the AGENCY, giving the approximate starting date, completion date, and the name <br />and telephone number of responsible persons who may be contacted at any hour in the event of a <br />critical condition requiring immediate correction. At least two weeks prior to starting work, the <br />Contractor shall notify the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus service of the <br />approximate starting date and completion date. <br />Construction Notices: <br />At least two weeks prior to starting work, the Contractor shall deliver notices supplied by the <br />AGENCY to the residents and businesses in the area affected by the construction. At least 48 hours <br />before working on a street, the contractor shall contact the residents and businesses of that street by <br />written notice to provide information as to the type of work, closure, type of inconvenience and the <br />expected duration. The written notice shall be a tag shape similar to the sample shown in the Appendix <br />of the Contract Documents and be hung on door knobs and all parked vehicles on the street. In the <br />event of a delay after the notice has been delivered, the contractor shall provide an updated notice to <br />the residents and businesses. After construction completion on the street, the contractor shall collect <br />any notices that are not picked up by the resident or business. <br />Temporary Construction Sigma <br />Contractor shall furnish, install and maintain temporary construction signs as detailed in the <br />Appendix of the Contract Documents. The signs shall be mounted on Type II barricades and <br />secured with sandbags to prevent overturning. The contractor shall install the temporary <br />construction signs during construction at locations approved by the Engineer. The maintenance <br />includes, but is not limited to the relocation for the different construction phases, replacement (if <br />damaged due to the operations of the Contractor) and graffiti removal. <br />Temporary Parking Removal Signs: <br />The signs for temporary parking removal during construction shall be a minimum of 12" x 18" as <br />shown in the Appendix of the Contract Documents. The signs shall be posted 48 hours prior to the <br />temporary parking removal. A sign shall be posted at the beginning of the parking removal area, the <br />beginning of every block, and every 100 -150 feet thereafter. <br />Payment for notifications, construction notices, temporary construction signs, and temporary <br />parking removal signs shall be included in the other items of work and no additional compensation <br />will be allowed therefore, and shall include all labor and materials necessary to manufacture, install <br />and maintain the signs and barricades. <br />26 <br />
