Jones <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was <br />granted to Gordon B. Van Roekel to construct <br />for a roller skating rink, with lunch counter, <br /> <br />seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> <br /> approved and variance <br /> a building to be used <br /> <br /> on property bounded on <br /> <br />the north by proposed State access road Just south of Santiago Creek, <br />on the west by the Santa Aha Freeway, on the east by North Main Street, <br />and on the south by a line parallel to and 256 feet north of the center <br />line of Edgewood Road, subject to certain conditions. <br />CommunicatiOns were read from the Planning Commlssi~n recommending <br />granting of variance to the First Western Bank and Trust Company, <br />Trustee for Benjamin H. and Viola M. Sharpless, to use the property <br />at 1611 North Broadway for a school for adult education, part of the <br />property to be used by the lessee for living quarters, and one room <br />to be used for a real'estate office, subject to certain conditions, <br />and from the Department of Public Works that replacement of broken <br />sidewalk it approach is needed. C.J.Marks objected to the condition <br />that parking space be provided for forty cars and stated that parking <br /> <br /> space for twenty cars would be more than adequate. On motion of <br />Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the recommendation <br />of the Planning Commission was approved and variance granted subject <br />to the conditions of the Commission, with the exception that parking <br />be provided for twenty cars, and subject to the conditions as imposed <br />by the Department of Public Works. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, secondsd by Markel and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Mrs. Eleanor R. White to convert the existing house on <br />property at lf~02 Bush Street, into a single office for a doctor, no <br />exterior changes to be made in the building, subject to certain con- <br />ditions. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />approval of variance application of Brainard Construction Company to <br />establish a temporary sales office and erect eleven temporary signs, <br />on property at the southwest corner of Flower Street and Santa Aha <br />Boulevard, subject to certain conditions. On motion of Councilman <br />Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the variance application was <br />referred back to the Planning Commission with instructions to refer <br />to Section 8Z~12 of the Municipal Code regarding signs in the residential <br /> <br />district. <br />. <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />granting of variance to Ralph Jones to use the property at 1501 West <br />Fourth Street for the establishment and operation of a moving and <br />storage business, predominately for household furniture and furnish- <br />ings, and from the Department of Public Works that patching of small <br />holes in sidewalk on Fourth Street and r~placement of broken sidewalk <br />on Pacific Avenue, is needed. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded <br />by Heinly and carried, the recommendation Of the Planning Commission <br />was approved and variance granted subject to conditions ae imposed by <br /> <br />the Department of Public Works. <br /> <br /> <br />
