<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />written recommendation of the Manager, ~ated October 14th, 1955,
<br />setting forth salary step increases for th~ee-employees effective
<br />October let, 1955 and for ten employees effective November let, 1955,
<br />was received, filed and approved.
<br />
<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution,
<br />on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the fol-
<br />lowing Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 55-262 concerning parking
<br /> limitations and curb markings in accord-
<br /> ance therewith"
<br />
<br />eetablishin~ a yellow zone on the south side of West Fifth
<br />between Broadway and Birch Streets, reference request of Lorin
<br />~4oore, was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Councilman Dahl,
<br />seconded by Markel and carried, the request of System Auto Parks and
<br />Garages, Inc., for over-size driveways on Fifth Street and on Bush
<br />Street for the auto park to be located at the northwest corner of
<br />
<br />Fifth and Bush Streets, was g~anted, for two 35 foot driveways.

<br /> On recommendation of the committee a motion was made by Councilman
<br />Markel and seconded by Dahl to deny the request of the Principal of
<br />Wilson School for ~he cross-walk to be continued on Baker Street,
<br />between Washington and 15th Street. H.W.Emley, Principal of Wilson
<br />School explained the advantages of the cross-walk in regard to the
<br />safety of the primary students. Mrs. Max Becket, President, Wilson
<br />P.T.A. gave reasons for maintaining the cross-walk and Mrs. Ross
<br />Benson explained that two cross-walks are needed; one at Baker Street
<br />and one at 15th Street. Motion oarrt6d. It was moved by Councilman
<br />Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, that cross-walks be established
<br />on l~th Street and on Baker Street.
<br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Councilman Dahl,
<br />seconded by Markel and carried, the request of Leonce C. Bullock that
<br />a twenty-fou~ minute parking zone be established in front of his place
<br />
<br />of business at 935 Santiago Street, was denied.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, 'seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />
<br />request of GOrdon Hittenmark, representin~ Radio station K W I Z, for
<br />
<br />permission to place a small "Doll House", measuring approximately $~ x
<br /> northeast
<br />6', on the/corner o~ Fifth and Main Streets, to serve as the official
<br />
<br />collection center for new dolls and toys to be distributed by the
<br />
<br />Salvation Army, for Christmas, during the month of December, was grant
<br />.
<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the plan~
<br />and specifications for the widening of South Main Street from First
<br />Street to Walnut Street, were approved.

<br />On motlo~ of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />Manager was instructed to investigate the advisability of installln~
<br />parking meter heads at the Municipal Parking Lot on West Third Street,
