EXHIBIT A
Scope of Work
Annual Accomplishment Goal
I. Number of unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served with grant funds during the 12-
month contract period = 450 PERSONS
II. Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12 -month contract
period including, services to be provided, program goals, client characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized.
Located in downtown Santa Ana, Taller San Jose addresses the needs of a neglected population —
unemployed young adults, ages 18 to 28, who have never completed high school, who have run into
trouble with the law and who have fallen through the cracks of existing support services. Taller San Jose
is a highly focused, goal oriented program that challenges its students to build a foundation for future
stability and success. Program elements include: a high school diploma program, computer skills, office
skills and child development classes, a life skills program, job placement, academic counseling, a nurses'
aide training program, legal consultation for students dealing with warrants and arrests, mentoring, access
to childcare services and bus passes. In January 2002, Taller San Jose launched Taller Tech — a program
of job - training in the building trade. Located in a new 10,000 square foot industrial building, just 7
blocks west of our current site, this program combines classroom instruction with hands -on experience.
Apprentices study the use of hand and power tools, basic math for measurement, foundation formation,
and introduction to electrical and roofing; they practice rough and finish carpentry, drywall installation
and repair, and door and window installation.
The CDBG grant funds will benefit our students by providing the basic instructional materials, utilities
and parking needed for each student to attend and learn in our educational and job - training courses.
Schedule of Performance
Estimate the number of unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served during the 12 -month
contract period per quarter:
Quarter 1:
July 1 — September 30
Quarter 2:
October 1 — December 31
Quarter 3:
January 1 — March 31
Quarter 4:
April 1 — June 30
Invoicing Schedule
175
Persons
75
Persons
125
Persons
75
Persons
Total 450
Persons
Estimated the amount of grant funds to be requested during the 12 -month contract period on a
quarterly basis:
Quarter 1: July 1 — September 30 $ 7500
Quarter 2: October 1 — December 31 $ 7500
Quarter 3: January 1 — March 31 $ 7500
Quarter 4: April 1 — June 30 $ 7500
Total $ 30,000
Exhibit A
