Becerra, Alexis
From:Kelly Kraus-Lee <kellyakraus@gmail.com>
Sent:Tuesday, March 4,
To:eComment
Subject:Support for Item 13
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear City Council,

I write in support of item 13 for additional Legacy Square Transportation Improvements, but with the caveat that if we
continue to allow industrial trucks to use Santiago St, including dump trucks connected to the Ware Disposal facility, the
paving will crack quickly and cyclists will not feel safe using the bike lane.

I tried to use the existing protected bike lane on Santiago/6th St last week and had to ride past a dozen dump trucks
queuing at Madison/Ware Disposal (the gas smell paired with the dump smell was lovely) and then had to dodge objects
and people in the bike lane in front of Bruce Metals. I've ridden up Santiago to 17th and the street is really scary to bike
due to the semi trucks & worker trucks speeding up and down. One time I was left in a cloud of burning rubber when
employees at a business at Santiago St decided to race up the street when they got off work. I am eager to see further
investment in cyclist and pedestrian safety in this area, but I fear it is wasted money if we do not also address the
industrial businesses.

Thank you,
Kelly Kraus-Lee
Ward 6
2
