<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 7, 2005 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE POLICE <br />MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare, and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the Police Management <br />Association regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of <br />emploYment. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City and the Police Management Association (PMA) recently completed <br />contract negotiations, resulting in a new, four-year agreement, since the <br />previous Memorandum of Understanding expired on June 30, 2004. <br /> <br />Key elements of this Agreement include: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Term: A four-year term, from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008. <br />Salary Increase: July 1, 2004 0% (me too) <br /> July 1, 2005 0% (me too) <br /> July 1, 2006 Up to 4.5% (me too) <br /> July 1, 2007 Up to 4.5% (me too) <br /> <br />2. Medical Premium Contributions: Effective March 1, 2005, the City <br />shall contribute toward medical premiums an amount consistent with the <br />rates then in effect for the "employee only" tier and "family" tier, <br />respectively, of the California Kaiser Permanente Health Maintenance <br />Organization Plan. Employees enrolled in more expensive plans will be <br />required to pay the difference in premium rates. <br /> <br />3. Retirement Reopener: Effective July 1, 2006, discuss the feasibility <br />of an enhanced retirement formula for non-sworn. <br /> <br />25J-1 <br />
