<br />18.3 <br /> <br />D. Every effort shall be made to find an acceptable <br />solution to the grievance through this informal <br />process. <br /> <br />E. If the grievance is not resolved at the informal <br />level, the employee shall then set forth the <br />grievance in writing, indicate the nature of the <br />action desired, sign it, and submit it in <br />duplicate to his or her Bureau Commander. At this <br />point, the grievance review process becomes <br />formal. Should the grievant fail to file a <br />written grievance, and in the manner specified <br />above, within ten (10) calendar days after <br />receiving the response from his or her Bureau <br />Commander, the grievance shall be barred and <br />waived. <br /> <br />Formal Process. <br /> <br />A. If the grievance is not resolved through the <br />informal process, and a written grievance is filed <br />within the time limits set forth above, the <br />grievant's immediate supervisor and Division <br />Commander will add their comments and any <br />justification they consider proper, sign it, and <br />forward it to their Bureau Commander without undue <br />delay, or in no case, more than seven (7) calendar <br />days after receiving the formal grievance. A copy <br />shall be provided to the employee. <br /> <br />B. The Bureau Commander, after study of the case, <br />shall attach his or her decision and reasons <br />therefore, and return them to the employee within <br />seven (7) calendar days after receipt of the <br />written grievance. <br /> <br />C. If nO satisfactory settlement has been reached at <br />the division level, the employee may, within seven <br />(7) calendar days after receipt of the Bureau <br />Commander's decision may, in writing, request a <br />meeting with the Police Chief to pursue the <br />employee's grievance. Failure of the grievant to <br />take this action will constitute a waiver and bar <br />to the grievance, and the grievance will be <br />considered settled on the basis of the Bureau <br />Commander's response. <br /> <br />Do If the grievant files a written grievance to the <br />Police Chief in the matter and within the time <br />limits specified in "C. above, then a conference <br />shall be held at the request of the employee or <br />the Police Chief. <br /> <br />66 <br />
