<br />Lss:08/17/05 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-080 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO APPROVE THE <br />PROPOSED EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR THE 2005-2006 <br />SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The California Legislature has established and annually funds the <br />Supplemental law Enforcement Services Fund (SlESF). <br /> <br />B. Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities <br />in accordance with specified requirements for front line law <br />enforcement services. <br /> <br />C. The total funding allocation is based on annual estimated <br />population figures for respective counties and cities. In 2004-05 the <br />City of Santa Ana, received an award of $512,130. <br /> <br />D. The potential funding amount for 2005-06 has yet to be authorized <br />through the State budget. The State requires cities and counties to <br />adopt and submit an expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law <br />Enforcement Oversight Committee prior to funding. <br /> <br />E. The Police Department has established a SLESF expenditure <br />account for the grant funds, and is committed to spend the funds on <br />front-line law enforcement, including personnel and equipment for <br />community policing. These programs include the Gang <br />Suppression Task Force, Cruiser Enforcement and Career Criminal <br />Apprehension Programs. <br /> <br />F. A duly noticed public hearing was held to consider this item at the <br />Council's regular meeting of September 6, 2005. The City Council <br />considered all testimony, written and oral, before rendering this <br />decision. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves and <br />authorizes and empowers the Chief of Police to take all actions necessary to <br /> <br />Resolution 2005-080 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
