NO. 06-011) <br />~" <br />~,~~,J_ <br />L <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Rea~mmended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Office Depot for the purchase of office supplies <br />based upon the County of Los Angeles contract for a four year period <br />in the annual amount not to exceed $390,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City utilizes an assortment of office products for its daily <br />operations such as: paper and toner for printers, copiers, and <br />facsimiles; binders and file accessories; and writing utensils and <br />calendars. The Central Stores Division also orders various stock items <br />for City agencies to store in inventory. <br />The County of Los Angeles recently bid and awarded a contract for <br />office supplies to Office Depot. The contract offers a 40-70 percent <br />discount through Los Angeles County's cooperated contract program. By <br />using the contract, the City benefits from the quantity pricing <br />available to the County. Office Depot has an on-line ordering system, <br />which provides next day delivery service, and tracking and payment <br />information to the requesting agency. <br />The City Council adopted Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizing the City to <br />purchase against contracts with other government agencies utilizing a <br />competitive bid process. Office Depot was awarded a contract as a <br />result of open, competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br />22K-1 <br /> <br />
