MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA AIWA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />JUNE 6, 1988 <br /> <br />At 2:05 p.m., the Assistant Clerk of the Council called the regular <br />meeting of the Santa Ana City Council to order in Room 423, City Hall, <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. Since there were no Councilmembers <br />present to respond to the call of the roll, the Assistant Clerk declared <br />the meeting adjourned to 4:00 p.m. in Room 423. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:20 p.m. in Room'423, by Mayor Dan <br />Young. Councilmembers present were John Acosta, Daniel E. Griset, Wilson <br />B. Hart, Ron May, Patricia A. McGuigan, and Mayor Young. Also present <br />were City Manager David N. Ream, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk <br />of the Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Mtguel A. Pulido joined the meeting at 4:23 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY,SESSION <br /> <br />WARD BOUNDARY CHANGES (AGENDA ITEM 75A) <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council reported that no input had been received from the <br />public with regard to either of the ward boundary proposals submitted by <br />Councilmembers Acosta and McGuigan, nor had any additional proposals been <br />submitted. The Clerk also outlined the presentation scheduled for the <br />public nearing at the Evening Session. <br /> <br />Councilmembers had no questions with respect to the matter. <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT EVALUATION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL APPLICATIONS <br /> <br />Lt. Mike Foote reviewed Santa Ana's procedures with respect to the <br />issuance of Alcoholic Beverage Control Licenses indicating three agencies, <br />Police, Planning, and Alcoholic Beverage Control, were involved in the <br />review process. He also provided statistics relative to the 506 licenses <br />currently issued to businesses in the City noting the incidence of each <br />type of license. Lt. Foote provided statistics with respect to alcohol <br />caused or related crimes, and responded to Councilmembers' specific <br />questions. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested that the Council Public Safety Committee make a <br />comprehensive review on a license-by-license basis of the City's current <br />ABC licenses, and suggest measures which might increase local control for <br />submission to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 167 <br /> <br />JUNE 6, 1988 <br /> <br /> <br />
