REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 21, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />~~ <br />Qdocation l~r <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />AMENDMENT TO EXTEND LICENSE <br />AGREEMENT WITH SOUTHERN <br />CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY FOR <br />THE MACARTHUR BOULEVARD TRAIL <br />~c~ <br />CI Y MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15f Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to amendment the license agreement with the Southern <br />California Edison Company for an additional five-year term for oversight of <br />the bike trail and pedestrian access located along MacArthur Boulevard and <br />the Santa Ana River in an annual amount not to exceed $370. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Santa Ana entered into a five-year license agreement with.the <br />Southern California Edison Company in 1996 allowing the City oversight of <br />the bike trail and pedestrian access along MacArthur Boulevard and the <br />Santa Ana River. Per the terms of the original agreement, the City's <br />Parks Recreation and Community Services Agency is responsible for <br />maintaining the trail. A first amendment was approved in 2001 extending <br />the agreement through December 31, 2005. Staff recommends extending the <br />license agreement for an additional five-year term, which would expire on <br />December 31, 2010.
