The following speakers addressed Council expressing concerns regarding the <br />upcoming Gay Pride Parade and Festival scheduled for September 9-10, 1989 <br />in Centennial Park: <br /> <br />Bobby Bible, 1000 Tustin <br />Ralph Freeman, 4801W. Camden Place <br />Jon Turner, lOO1 VanNess #G <br />John Robinson, 320 N. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim <br /> <br />90.C. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Griset requested that staff provide the Council with an <br />update regarding the Police Department's policy on "hot pursuit." He also <br />requested the Council schedule as a discussion item at its next Work Study <br />Session the subject of gang member diversion programs. <br /> <br />6:10 P.M. - Councilmember May left the meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan reported that the "Crackerjacks" had won the <br />national girls softball tournament. She also reported a traffic hazard at <br />the intersection of North Bristol and Civic Center Drive, and requested <br />staff investigate the feasibility of removing parking on Newhope Street <br />between McFadden and First to increase visibility particularly at the <br />intersection of New Britain and Newhope. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta requested that staff meet with Joan Peterson to <br />discuss the feasibility of developing the property along the north side of <br />Civic Center Drive. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 6:12 P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced the Council was recessing to Closed <br />Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with the <br />City Attorney regarding pending litigation which had been initiated <br />formally, and to which the City was a party, to wit, Dougherty vs. City of <br />Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation), DeLaRiva vs. City of Santa Ana <br />(Worker's Compensation), and City of Santa Ana vs. J & J Sewer et al. <br /> <br />RECONVENED - COUNCIL CHAMBERS - 6:27 P.M. - Mayor Pro Tem Acosta and <br />Councilmembers Griset, McGuigan and Norton present. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />263 <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1989 <br /> <br /> <br />
