Policy Statement <br /> <br />In carrying out the purpose of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), the City of <br />Santa Ana Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) will establish programs to <br />prepare youth and unskilled adults for entry into the labor force and to afford <br />job training to those individuals facing serious barriers to employment. Every <br />effort will be made to provide services necessary for eligible individuals to <br />obtain productive employment. <br /> <br />In implementing WIA, all contractors in the Santa Ana LWIA will foster equal <br />opportunity and non-discrimination, as provided in State and Federal equal <br />opportunity and non-discrimination laws including, but not limited to: <br /> <br />. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 <br />. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 <br />. The Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended <br />. Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 <br />. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 <br />. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 <br />. Section 188 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 <br /> <br />In keeping with our commitment, no individual shall be excluded from <br />participation in, denied benefits of, subjected to discrimination under, or denied <br />employment, in the administration or of in connection with any WIA funded <br />program because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, handicap, or <br />political affiliation or belief. <br /> <br />Participation in programs and activities financially assisted in whole or in part <br />under WIA shall be open to citizens and nationals of the United States, lawfully <br />admitted permanent resident aliens, lawfully admitted refugee, parolees, and <br />other individuals authorized by the Attorney General to work in the United <br />States. <br /> <br />No individual will be intimidated, threatened, coerced, or discriminated against <br />because of filing a complaint, furnishing information, or assisting or <br />participating in any manner in an investigation, compliance review, hearing, or <br />any other activity related to the administration of WIA. <br /> <br />2 <br />
