NO. 04-044) <br />.l,/"~"" <br />CI MANAGER <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1s' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on Intl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Renew the contract with Gallade Chemical, Inc. for water treatment salt for <br />a one-year period in the annual amount not to exceed $20,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Central Stores section of the Finance and Management Services Agency <br />provides salt to the Public Works Agency for the treatment of drinking <br />water. Recent changes to the California Health and Safety Code regarding <br />the California Safe Drinking Water Act now mandate that any product added <br />to drinking water must be tested and certified as meeting the <br />specifications of the American National Standard Institute's National <br />Sanitation Foundation Standard 60. <br />On May 3, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract to Gallade Chemical, <br />Inc. fo'r a one-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. The <br />vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has <br />agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing.
