REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MAY 1, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT <br />EXTENSION FOR MUNICIPAL <br />PARKING GARAGE OPERATOR <br />IN DOWNTOWN <br />~~ <br />Qyocacion use <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1s~ Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a management agreement for the operation <br />of four Downtown public parking garages for a one-year period at a fixed <br />rate not to exceed $11,940. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 5, 2001, the Council approved a three-year contract with Ace <br />Parking, Inc. for management of the four Downtown parking garages located <br />at Third & Birch, Third & Broadway, Fifth & Main, and Fifth & French <br />Streets. On February 22, 2005, the Council approved a one-year extension <br />period expiring on April 30, 2006. Staff has been satisfied with the <br />services provided by Ace Parking and recommends renewing the management <br />agreement for one additional year. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The four parking garages generate the necessary revenue to offset all <br />operating expenses and fees. Funds are available in the Downtown Parking <br />Facilities account (account no. 27-014-6291). <br />/l//~L~i <br />Pa ricia C.
