Provide
projected numbers of Santa Ana residents to be served, and the kinds of services they
would receive if your program is funded. Also describe the specific actions and tasks that
would be performed on a day-to-day basis to achieve these goals.

See Appendix A for examples.

Y, ...

The local community has a need for programs to steer teenagers towards productive goals and
lives. This program would supply the life tools and career skills to assist young people in reaching their
goals. The Tech Camp would introduce 10 high school students, of mid to low income, to the inner-
workings of a theater and train them in the technical skills involved in theater production. The program is
open to all students regardless of race, color, creed or sex. With one camp offered per year, RGTC's
outreaches will extent to 10 students, their family members, friends and schools, and expand in coming
years.
The primary goal of the camp is to produce 10 qualified technical crewmembers, capable of running
the technical side of a production on their own. Obtaining this goal will further a second goal of the camp; to
instill a sense of self-respect and confidence among its participants.
Members of Rude Guerrilla Theater Company will use their expertise to train the students. They
possess professional competencies in stage-managing, set design and construction, lighting design, sound
design, makeup, costumes and theater management. The primary trainers will be:
Dave Barton: producer/director/theater management, Don Hess: set design & construction,
Michelle Fontenot: theater management, Andrew Nienaber: director/stage manager,
Jennifer Cook: stage manager/props & costumes, Rene Gallo: lighting design, David Gallo:
sound design and Susan Shearer: training design professional
High school students (9th - 12th grade) will spend four consecutive Saturdays, for four hours at a time
(including breaks and lunch), studying lighting and sound design, set construction and stage management.
The classroom training is followed with, two (2) weeks of fabrication and four (4) weekends of production
run, using job skills and expertise learned in class

Curriculum:
o Introduction to Theater
o Working with the Director and Actors
o Basic Tools
o Set Design & Construction
o Lighting Design
o Sound Design
o Props & Costumes
o Stage Management
o Tech Production: Hands-On
o Resume Building
o Critique: Production as a whole and individual participants

Work and study will be personalized to benefit the teenager's special needs, interests and skills.
People skilled in the profession will tutor the young people in a nurturing, supportive environment. A critique
of performance of both individuals and team will be conducted at the close of the production
By training young people, they develop both self-confidence and job skills; learn responsibility, as
well as an appreciation of the arts. These are all things they can take with them to any number of other
jobs, in or out of the entertainment industry.

70110

ExhtbH A
