<br />the FATS machine is in need of updated equipment, which will dramatically increase the realism <br />of the scenarios. <br /> <br />Goal: <br /> <br />To improve the perishable skill of Tactical Firearms among police officers, and enhance officer <br />reaction time and decision-making skills. <br /> <br />Obiectives: <br /> <br />The goal will be accomplished by providing officers with realistic scenario training in which the <br />officers must make rapid decisions and discharge his/her firearm safely and accurately. The <br />upgraded FATS machine software along with updated weapons system and equipment will <br />enable these objectives. <br /> <br />Ouantifiable Performance Measures: <br /> <br />The upgraded software will enable FATS machines to record the number and accuracy of officer <br />and suspect shots, and to determine whether the shots were fatal or resulted in suspect injury. <br />Some scenarios require the officer not to shoot, therefore will evaluate the officer's performance <br />to determine whether or not the officer was justified in shooting. <br /> <br />The performance measures include anticipated improvement in shooting proficiency, decision- <br />making skills and reaction time.
