REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 17, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT FOR ON-CALL <br />ENGINEERING 3ERVICES FOR WATER <br />AND 3EVPER PROJECTS <br />u-~~ <br />CI MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 ~` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Tetra Tech, Inc. and <br />Daniel Boyle Engineering for water and sewer engineering services in an <br />amount not to exceed $300,000 for each firm. <br />Staff has solicited proposals for water and sewer engineering services from <br />eight qualified civil engineering firms; four firms replied. These services <br />are required to augment City staff to complete the design of water and <br />sewer infrastructure projects in a timely manner. <br />A committee comprised of personnel from the Public Works Agency reviewed <br />the proposals. The ratings for the four firms are as follows: <br />FIRM <br />Rating <br />1. Daniel Boyle Engineering 92 <br />2. Tetra Tech, Inc. 92 <br />3. Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. 70 <br />4. AKM Consulting Engineering 67 <br />The fee schedules for the two top rated firms were compared and are <br />consistent, reasonable, and in line with staff's estimate. Due to the <br />experience of key personnel, client satisfaction and competitive rates it <br />is recommended that the firms of Daniel Boyle Engineering and Tetra Tech, <br />Inc. be retained for the required services. <br />25A-1 <br />
