Attachment C
Section 6 Interoperable Communications Eauipment
AEL Ref No Title /Description
SHSP/ I MIP MAM S EMPG
VASI
6.0 NOTES TO APPLICANTS
[❑ [] (1) This section includes equipment and systems that provide connecti My
and electrical interoperability between local and interagency organizatic ns to
coordinate CBRNE response operations. When utilizing CDP program funds
in the category of Interoperable Communications Equipment to build,
upgrade, enhance, or replace communications systems, grantees and ub-
grantees should develop a comprehensive Interoperable communicatio is
plan before procurement decisions are made. Guidance for developme nt of
interoperable communications plans is provided in Appendix H.
(2) In an effort to improve emergency preparedness and response
interoperability, all new or upgraded radio systems and new radio equip men
should be compatible with a suite of standards called ANSIfTIA1EIAA -1 2
Phase I (Project 25). These standards have been developed to allow for
backward compatibility with existing digital and analog systems and provide
for interoperability, in future systems. The FCC has chosen the Project 25
suite of standards for voice and low- moderate speed data interoperability in
the new nationwide 700 MHZ frequency band. The Integrated Wireless
Network (IWN) of the U.S. Justice and Treasury Departments has also
chosen the Project 25 suite of standards for their new radio equipment. In
an effort to realize improved interoperability, all radios purchased unde this
grant should be APCO 25 compliant.
6.1 In-Suit Communications
91 ❑vf E/] E Land Mobile, Two -Way In -Suit Communications (secure, hands -free, f
duplex, optional), including air -to- ground capability (as required).
6.2 Radio, Portable
r
k YJ U E/] Individual /portable radios, including software radios.
6.3
Radio, Mobile
9
Mobile radio equipment, deployed on vehicles
6.4
Radio, Base
F/]
[J
V
L
Base radio system
6.5
Radio, High Frequency (HF) Single Sideband
V1
V
[]
High Frequency (HF) Single Sideband communications equipment
6.6
Repeaters
❑J
W
W
Repeaters
6.7 Transmission Device, Wireless, Remote Sensor
❑.r n PV A device which, when attached to a remote sensor such as a video ca
or chemical detector, allows wireless transmission of data to a distant
May use radio frequency (RF), or Infrared (IR) transmission.
Fall 2004
.SEL Ref Number
06CP -01 -PORT
06CP- 01 -MOBL
06CP -01 -BASE
06CP- 03 -HFRQ
06CP- 01 -REPT
06CP- 01 -SNSR
Interactive versions of this appendix and the Fall 2004 SEL are availabl on -line at lvwiv.rkb.m/pt.org.
Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Full AEL: Page 31 of 79
