all overhead utilities will be designed as a part of a
new underground system by the utility owners (SCE,
Pacific Bell & CATV) and the existing 36" MWD water
facilities that are impacted will be designed by MWD
(see Photo 8). Harris will design City related utility
impacts, including fire hydrant assembly relocations,
water and sewer related adjustments and relocations
of laterals, if any) Note: Harris & Associates already
obtained an electronic utility detection survey of Bristol
Street, from McFadden Avenue to Third Street, as part of
the mainline storm drain design project (see Exhibit 2),
thus we already know all of the horizontal and vertical
locations of all of the existing utilities within the project
reach (accurate [0 within 6-inches +/-). Thus, for the
Harris Team, there will be zero starr up time with regards
to the required utility coordination for the project.
The need for potholing existing utilities will be greatly
teduced because of the utility work already done by the
Harris Team, however, a contingency line item to provide
up to two days of utility potholing has been included in
the fees in the unlikely event that it should be required.
Traffic Design Elements

Harris & Associates will perform all of the traffic design
elements in house, which will primarily consist of the
following:

. Traffic Signal Modifications (two signalized
intersections, namely, at McFadden Ave and Bishop
Street, see Photos 1 & 6)

. Traffic Signing & Striping design (for plan view only
sheets at I" ~ 40' scale, extending 300' north of Pine
Street, 300' south of McFadden Avenue to ensure proper
transitions I joins with the previous widening projects at
each end, see Photo 2)

. Traffic Signal interconnect design (two plan view only
sheets at 1" ~ 40' scale)

. Streetlight design (two plan view sheets at I" ~ 40' scale)
similar to Bristol Street south of McFadden (see Photo 4)

. Traffic Control & Phasing Plam (up to six plan view
only sheets at 1" ~ 40' scale)

Photo 7 - Parkway Grading: At some high properties, see
existing retaining wall, there may be a need to retain the
grades behind the proposed sound wall. depending on whether
the grade differences can be made up within the ptoposed
parkway. Thi. will likely be possible in the wider parkways but
a retaining wall of .ome .ort may be unavoidable in some of
the narrower parkway areas.

Photo 8 - Utility relocations: We will proactive~
coordinate the utility relocation. that will be required
throughout the project limits. While tity owned utilities, such
as the fire hydrant shown, will be relocated per our Bri.tol
Street plan. other farilities, .uch as MWD'. 36" waterline and
appurtenances (see tan tolored vent pipes, pedestal and access
vault) and overhead lines (owned by SeE, Pacific Bell and
Adelphia CATV) will be relocated or converted to underground,
tespectively, per separate plans prepared by the utility owners.
