NO. 06-078) <br />ITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2n° Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award contracts for the purchase of safety shoes for a one-year period, <br />with provision for two, one-year renewals exercisable by the City Manager <br />in the annual aggregate amount not to exceed $50,000 with the following <br />vendors: <br />Vendor: Location: <br />Dee's Shoes Inc. d/b/a Red Wing Shoes Santa Ana <br />Industrial Safety Shoe Company Santa Ana <br />Iron Age Corporation Los Angeles <br />L & M Footwear Inc. d/b/a/ Shoeteria Anaheim <br />DISCUSSION <br />Employees from various departments require safety shoes while performing <br />job duties. Under the City's Memorandum Of Understanding with the employee <br />associations, the City agrees to provide up to $200 per fiscal year, per <br />applicable employee, for approved purchases of safety shoes and boots. In <br />order to provide employees the widest possible selection that would be <br />conducive to job requirements, the City recommends contracts with four <br />different vendors. As such, the recommended action will allow the <br />employees to purchase steel toe safety footwear to comply with the City's <br />safety shoe regulation. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on May 31 and June 2, 2006, and <br />bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is <br />as follows: <br />5 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />2 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />4 Bids received <br />2 Bids received from Santa Ana vendors <br />22M-1 <br />
