<br />FY 2006 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM - DECEMBER 2, 2005 <br /> <br />Table 3 points to other grant programs throughout the Federal government which <br />States can leverage for preparedness needs. <br /> <br />Table 3 - FY 2006 Other Preparedness Grant Programs <br /> <br />FY 2006 Progt'am Overvie\\ Goall\Iission <br />Progranl Area <br />National The purpose of the NBHPP is to prepare hospitals and <br />Bioterrorism supporting health care systems, in collaboration with other <br />Hospital partners, to deliver coordinated and effective care to victims of <br />terrorism and other public health emergencies. Cooperative <br />Preparedness agreement funds may be used for activities that include Common <br />Program (NBHPP) increasing surge capacity, which encompasses beds, personnel, Activities, Respond <br />Health Resources <br />and Services pharmaceuticals, Personal Protective Equipment, <br />Administration decontamination capacity, isolation capacity and interoperable <br />(HRSA), (HHS) communications, as well as the enhancement of EMS services, <br />comnetency based training, and exercises. <br />Bioterrorism BTCDP provides support to health professions schools, health <br />Training and care systems, and other educational entities to equip a workforce <br />Curriculum of healthcare professionals to address emergency preparedness Common <br />Development and response issues. The program consists of two discrete foci: Activities, Respond <br />(I) provision of continuing education for practicing health care <br />Program (BTCDP), providers; and (2) curriculum development and enhancement <br />(HRSA), (HHS) and training in health professions schools. <br />Public Health The purpose of the Division of State and Local Readiness' <br />Emergency cooperative agreement program is to upgrade and integrate State <br />and local public health jurisdictions' preparedness for and <br />Preparedness response to terrorism and other public health emergencies with <br />Cooperative Federal, State, local, and Tribal governments, the private sector, Common <br />Agreement, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). These Activities, Respond <br />Centers for Disease emergency preparedness and response efforts are intended to <br />Control and <br />Prevention (CDC), support the NRP and the NIMS. Activities included in the <br />cooperative agreement are designed to develop ernergency- <br />(HHS) readv Dublic health DeDartments. <br />Federal Emergency The Pre-Disaster, Flood, and Hazard Mitigation Programs <br />provides States and local governments financial assistance to <br />Management implement measures that will pennanently reduce or eliminate Common <br />Agency (FEMA) future damages and losses from natural hazards through safer Activities, Protect, <br />Mitigation Grants building practices and improving existing structures and Recover <br />(DHS) supporting infrastructure. <br /> The JAG Program is a partnership among Federal, State, and <br />Edward Byrne local governments to create safer communities. The Bureau of <br />Memorial Justice Justice Assistance may award grants for use by States and units Common <br />Assistance Grant of local government to improve the functioning of the criminal Activities, Protect, <br />Program (JAG), justice system and enforce State and local laws that establish Respond <br />Department of offenses similar to those in the Federal Controlled Substances <br />Justice (DOJ) Act. Grants also may be used to provide assistance (not <br />compensation)' to victims of these offenders. <br />Homeland The purpose of the Homeland Security - Agriculture Grant is to <br />Sccurity- <br />Agricultural Grant, provide funding to protect the food supply and agricultural Common <br />production, protect USDA facilities and other agricultural <br />Department of infrastructure; and protect USDA staff and manage emergency Activities, Protect <br />Agriculture <br />(USDA) preparedness. <br /> <br />PREPAREDNESS DIRECTORATE'S OFFICE OF GRANTS AND TRAINING <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />19 <br />
