254 <br />authorized to accept streets and roads into the City street system; <br />City Manager Ream informed the Council that City staff will <br />investigate this issue and report back <br />Raised concerns about the budget item for the Memphis Restaurant <br />and stated that ,given the owner's financial status and the number of <br />properties he owns in Santa Ana, he did not need the City's financial <br />assistance <br />• Supported the concept of the IDEA Center, however stated that the <br />Center should be at a site that would be less costly for the City of <br />Santa Ana <br />• Asked residents to continue praying for him and his family during a <br />trying time in his life. <br />Councilmember Bist <br />Noted that several months ago she had asked staff to look into a <br />resident complaint at the Park Place Apartments concerning <br />maintenance issues, however, she recently received a second <br />complaint indicating that conditions were still deplorable , and again <br />asked staff to investigate the situation. <br />Councilmember McGuigan <br />• Thanked Warren Johnson, a Volunteer Chaplain with the Fire <br />Department and the Orange County Fire Authority for his heroic <br />efforts in rescuing individuals in a building fire in the City of Orange. <br />Councilmember Franklin <br />• Thanked the Police and Fire Chiefs for arranging "ride-alongs" for <br />him and related how impressed he was with the level of service <br />provided by the City's paramedics; he also complimented the Police <br />loud parties task force for their efforts in responding to complaints. <br />He reminded residents that there is a noise ordinance and violations <br />should be reported to the police <br />• Announced that he attended the Mexican American Opportunities <br />Foundation Fiesta at Prentice Park, and congratulated the <br />Foundation on a successful event <br />• Announced that in the month of August, the musical "Grease" was <br />taking place in Phillips Hall; he noted that this production was a <br />collaborative effort between Santa Ana College, Santa Ana City, and <br />the Santa Ana Youth Employment and Training Program <br />• Announced that Director Francis Ford Coppola was producing a <br />"Gidget" musical and has chosen the Orange County High School of <br />the Arts to perform it. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Lutz <br />• Notified Santa Ana High School graduates that there will be an All <br />Years reunion at Yorba Linda Regional Park on September 9, 2000 <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />250 AUGUST 7, 2000 <br />
