• SAC enrollment, credit plus non-credit enrollment is larger than every <br />University of California and California State University school in the <br />state <br />• Non-credit adult education courses provide courses in literacy and <br />citizenship <br />• Collaborates with the Santa Ana Unified School District, California <br />State University, Fullerton, University of California, Irvine and <br />Chapman University — together have garnered several million dollars <br />in joint grants <br />• ENLACE —five year grant — works towards increasing preschools at <br />elementary schools; promotes expansion of dual language <br />immersion programs and sites; promotes establishing all K-12 <br />• and community college sites as family learning centers accessible <br />during and after hours <br />• Additional collaborations include the IDEA Institute, participation on <br />the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board, and the Community <br />Outreach Partnership Program <br />• Joint grant with the Discovery Science Center — looks at future <br />careers in space industry <br />President Cepeda announced the grand opening of the Neighborhood <br />Technology Center, a Digital Bridge Project site designed to connect <br />neighborhoods to the global community. She also introduced two students, <br />Miguel Lopez, Editor of El Don college newspaper and Kelly Ritze, news <br />editor for El Don. Mr. Lopez announced that members of the newspaper <br />staff had returned from San Francisco where the El Don competed with <br />several other Junior Colleges and major universities, such as Stanford <br />University, and received the school paper's 7`h consecutive award as <br />"Newspaper of the Year". <br />WS.B. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR DELHI CENTER <br />Roger Torriero Executive Director of Delhi Board presented Council with an <br />update on the construction project at Delhi Center. Highlights of this <br />presentation include the following: <br />• There were thirty-six non productive work days due to inclement <br />weather <br />• Even given the delays, the project is on schedule to be completed on <br />September 12, 2001 <br />• Concrete foundation has been poured <br />• Underground utilities are in place <br />• By mid -April the concrete for the base and curbs will be poured <br />• Project is on budget and moving forward at an aggressive pace <br />Irene Martinez addressed Council relative to plans to raise additional funds <br />that will be needed to complete the Delhi Center.
