WITH ALL MEMBERS PRESENT <br />COMMENTS <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Debbie McEwen, and Paul Giles addressed Council with concerns relative <br />to fireworks sales in the City and requested that such sales be limited to <br />one day on July 4`" each year. <br />Florence Leach addressed Council with concerns relative to a proposed <br />increase in sewer connection fees. <br />90.B. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />• Noted that the City of Tustin has threatened a lawsuit relative to a <br />recent state measure authorizing 100 acres of land at the Tustin Air <br />base for schools; she encouraged residents to notify City of Tustin <br />officials and urge them to resume negotiations <br />Councilmember Christy <br />• Attended the Mexican American Opportunities Foundation (MAOF) <br />annual Fiesta Familiar at Prentice Park on August 4, 2001, and noted <br />that the event was very successful <br />• Remarked that some businesses were not complying with the <br />commercial sign ordinance and noted that City staff is actively <br />enforcing this ordinance <br />Mayor Pro Tem McGuigan <br />• Congratulated the organizers of the Wilshire Square Summer Concert <br />held on July 28, 2001 <br />• Noted that she has received calls from residents of the Sierra Mobile <br />Home Park expressing concerns relative to a car wash on Newhope <br />and Seventeenth Street which is not abiding by hours of operation; she <br />requested that staff investigate this matter <br />• Asked staff from the Public Works and Police Departments to <br />investigate the traffic accident history on Flower Street between <br />MacArthur and Warner <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 298 AUGUST 6, 2001 <br />
