M <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br />• Agency's role in affordable housing is to create and preserve <br />affordable housing, and eliminate blight by replacing existing uses <br />with new development <br />• Outside funding sources are available to defray the Agency's cost <br />to assist affordable housing projects <br />• When agencies use funds to revitalize neighborhoods the projects <br />must be subject to long-term income and affordability requirements <br />COMMENTS <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Joanne Padilla, and William Winkleman thanked the Council for holding a <br />meeting at Delhi, and expressed concerns relative to the proposed One <br />Broadway Plaza project <br />Samuel Vance expressed concerns relative to treatment his mother <br />received at the Coastal Communities Hospital <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Christy: <br />• Expressed concerns relative to the increases in basic cable fees <br />• Thanked the Delhi Board and Executive Director Irene Martinez for <br />hosting the Council meeting at Delhi Center <br />• Announced that the Black History Parade would be held on <br />Saturday, February 2, 2002 <br />Councilmember Franklin <br />• Thanked the Delhi Center Board for patience and persistence in <br />realizing their dream <br />• Asked staff to look at reducing the number of street signs in the <br />downtown area <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />• Congratulated Irene Martinez and the Delhi Center Board on the <br />completion of the Delhi Center <br />• Asked Jim Ross, Executive Director of the Public Works Agency to <br />see if construction schedules could be accelerated for the Warner <br />Street and McFadden west of Bristol street improvement projects; <br />he also asked for a status report on these projects <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />32 JANUARY 22, 2002 <br />
