WORK STUDY SESSIONS <br />Debbie McKeown spoke in favor of an ordinance which would prohibit the <br />discharge of fireworks prior to July 4th <br />Dave Guccione and Mark Gassman representing TNT Fireworks <br />supported a limit on the number of booths permitted for selling fireworks. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Councilmembers agreed that the number of booths should be limited and <br />that booths should not be allowed near the perimeters of Centennial Park. <br />Councilmember Solorio asked staff to look at the feasibility of increasing <br />permit fees for sale of fireworks. Councilmember Bist pointed out that the <br />current ordinance allows discharge of safe and sane fireworks on days <br />that sales are permitted; she stated that the City should have the ability to <br />prevent multi -days discharge of fireworks. <br />Motion: Direct staff to prepare an ordinance for Council consideration on <br />April 1, 2002, limiting the number of fireworks booths in the future, <br />and prohibiting fireworks sales in the perimeter of Centennial Park <br />MOTION: McGuigan <br />VOTE: AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br />SECOND: Solorio <br />Alvarez, Bist, McGuigan, Solorio (4) <br />None (0) <br />Christy, Franklin , Pulido (3) <br />Council discussion continued on the issues of days of sale and discharge of fireworks. <br />The matter was returned to the Public Safety Committee for additional discussion. <br />COMMENTS <br />90.A.
