Description of Work -In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />Located in Santa Ana, Saint Joseph Ballet's Year Round Programs operate six days a week after school, and mentors <br />students through (1) dance education and performance opportunities, (2) academic programs including college <br />scholarship awards, (3) family services, (4) student enrichment opportunities, and (5) outreach to local public schools. <br /> <br />CDBG funding will be used to fund two program staff positions: the Academic Manager and Student Advisor. These <br />positions devote 100% of their time to providing direct services to Saint Joseph Ballet students (the majority of whom <br />are low-income, Latino youth residing in Santa Ana) and are filled by college educated, Spanish-bilingual personnel. <br /> <br />Saint Joseph Ballet's overriding mission is to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to strengthen self- <br />esteem, self-discipline and a sense of accomplishment through dance, academic and family programs. Each of Saint <br />Joseph Ballet's 400 enrolled students will receive highly individualized mentoring and a curriculum that progressively <br />challenges students to acheive. Parents will receive the social services they need to be better parents and resolve <br />family crises. Public school students will reconnect with the joy of movement at a crucial time in their development. <br /> <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12- <br />month contract period per quarter.
