NO. 07-100) <br />~- T t L4e-._______- <br />CITY ANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Adamson Police Products for vehicle conversion kits and <br />miscellaneous police products and supplies for a three-year period, in the <br />annual amount not to exceed $175,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In fiscal year 2007-2008, 13 police patrol vehicles have been scheduled for <br />replacement. In preparing the new vehicles for use by patrol, the Finance <br />and Management Services Agency Fleet Maintenance Division utilizes <br />conversion kits to adapt each vehicle with light bars, sirens, push bumpers <br />and prison restraint back seats. Adamson Police Products serves as the <br />Southern California authorized distributor for a long list of vehicle <br />manufacturers including Aedec International, Setina Manufacturer, Havis- <br />Shields Equipment Corporation, Federal Signal Corporation and Sound Off <br />Industries, all who serve as the core group of manufactures on the vehicle <br />conversion parts. Additionally, Fleet Maintenance converts U.S. Postal <br />Service vans for a fee, including reimbursement of all materials, by <br />installing lights, sirens and speakers. <br />Bids were solicited and opened on November 14, 2007.
