REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />OCTOBER 6, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />PAYMENT TO METROPOLITAN WATER <br />DISTRICT (MWD) FOR TWO SERVICE <br />CONNECTIONS ON BRISTOL STREET <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />~. <br />\ Authorize a payment to Metropolitan Water District in an amount not to <br />exceed $400,000 as a payment for the design and construction support for <br />Metropolitan Water District modifications of Service Connection SA-03 and <br />Willits Pressure Structure on Bristol Street at McFadden Avenue and at <br />Raymar Street. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On March 6, 2006 the City Council approved the cooperative agreement <br />between the City and the Orange County Transportation Authority to fund <br />Bristol Street widening project between Warner Avenue and Seventeenth <br />Street. Improvements include widening of the street to six lanes, major <br />drainage structures, landscaping, and utilities. <br />The first phase of the widening is between McFadden and Pine where <br />Metropolitan Water District structures are in conflict with the proposed <br />improvements. To accommodate the widening, Metropolitan Water District <br />facilities will need to be modified and relocated in order to widen the <br />street. Construction of Phase I is anticipated to begin early 2009. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, the proposed <br />project has been determined to be adequately evaluated in previously <br />prepared Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Assessment EIR <br />No. 89-01 approved by City Council in 1990. <br />29B-1 <br />
