REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 1, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE LEGAL <br />PUBLICATIONS, SUBSCRIPTIONS <br />AND ON -LINE RESEARCH SERVICES <br />WITH LEXISNEXIS, INC. <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager <br />attached amendment to the <br />publications, subscriptions, <br />amount not to exceed $60,000 <br />by the City Manager and City <br />DISCUSSION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />agreement with LexisNexis, Inc. for legal <br />and on -line research services in an annual <br />subject to non - substantive changes approved <br />Attorney. <br />Various City Departments are required to have the ability to access the <br />latest legal reference materials on an ongoing basis. This is done both <br />through standard publication and on -line formats. Previous contracts <br />with the City have provided continuous on -line access of legal research <br />for all City Attorney Office staff and the Police Department. In <br />addition, LexisNexis has been a primary provider of legal publications <br />and materials for other City Departments including Personnel Services <br />Risk Management and Workers Compensation Divisions. <br />LexisNexis has provided these services to the City for a number of years <br />and is the only publisher of several of the required publications. The <br />recommended action will allow for continuous service to the various City <br />Departments. <br />25L -1 <br />
