To <br />ensure the safety and security of both staff and inmates, the jail <br />includes an automated security door control system that utilizes a <br />programmed logistic controller. This system consists of hardware and <br />software that interfaces the touch screen control panels with the doors, <br />intercoms and security sensors. The current system is 13 years old, is DOS <br />based and no longer supported by the vendor. Therefore, it is no longer <br />cost effective to maintain. In replacing the system, the City gains <br />administrative control over upgrades, system enhancements and increased <br />operating capacity. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on July 8, 2009 and bids were <br />solicited.
