Huntington Beach <br />Issue: Disparities in Access to Opportunities and Disproportionate Housing Needs <br />In Huntington Beach, Hispanic residents have relatively low access to neighborhoods with good <br />environmental health, low poverty, high education scores, and high economic scores. Overall, <br />access to opportunities in the city is high compared to the region. <br />Housing cost burden is an issue for renters across Orange County, including in Huntington Beach. <br />Contributing Factors: <br />1. Lack of knowledge of fair housing and associated laws. <br />2. High cost of housing limits access to lower income households of all races/ethnicities. <br />Actions: Timeframe: <br />Promote fair housing practices through the following actions: <br />1. Continue to contract with the Fair Housing Foundation to provide fair housing <br />services, including fair housing and discrimination investigations, tenant and <br />landlord counseling, education and outreach activities, and affirmatively <br />further fair housing activities. <br />Ongoing <br />Preserve quality and affordability of existing housing through the following <br />actions: <br />1. Provide financial assistance to low-income households for home repairs <br />through the Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program. <br />2.
