Flores, Dora
From: Adriana Alanis <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 7:13 AM
To: eComment
Subject: Urgent Concerns Regarding ICE and Military Presence in Santa Ana
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear Mayor Valarie Amezcua and Esteemed Council Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you not only as a longtime resident of
Santa Ana, but also as a dedicated paralegal and advocate for justice, to express my deep
concern regarding the visible presence of ICE, the National Guard, and military personnel
in our city.
It is deeply troubling to witness ICE targeting hardworking immigrants —individuals who
contribute meaningfully to our community and are simply trying to provide for their
families. Contrary to the narrative that ICE is pursuing dangerous criminals, the reality on
the ground reveals that many of these individuals have no criminal history. I have
personally seen how tirelessly these residents work and how unjustly they are being
pursued.
Equally alarming is the increasing presence of military personnel in our neighborhoods —
individuals armed with war -grade weapons patrolling our streets. This militarized
environment is not only unsettling but also counterproductive to creating a sense of
safety. These forces are trained for combat, not for community safety, and their presence
fosters fear rather than protection among residents.
As your constituent, I urge Mayor Amezcua and the City Council to take a clear stance in
protecting all Santa Ana residents, regardless of immigration status. The Constitution
guarantees basic rights to everyone within the United States, and it is your duty as our
elected leaders to uphold those protections and ensure that Santa Ana remains a safe and
inclusive city for all.
Please do not allow fear and intimidation to become normalized in our community. We
are counting on you to act in defense of our neighbors and to reaffirm that this city will
not stand by while families are torn apart.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to see meaningful leadership and action on this
matter.
Sincerely,
Adriana Alanis
3
