Such strategies include lane-narrowing, on-street parking, chicanes, yield points, sidewalk bulge-outs, speed bumps, surface variations, mid-block deflections, and visual clues. Traffic calming is a retrofit technique unnecessary when thoroughfares are correctly designed for the appropriate speed at initial construction. Any provision of the Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC) or appendices thereto found inconsistent with the provisions of the Ordinance, only to the extent of such inconsistencies and no further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary to affect the provisions of this Ordinance, inclusive of corrections for typographical error, and shall be considered the same as if adopted at the time of this Ordinance.
