Ordinance No. NS-XXX <br />Page 26 of 47 <br />beverages, leather products, clocks and watches, jewelry, clothing/apparel, <br />metal work, furniture and fine woodworking, glass, ceramics, paper and paper <br />products, soaps, perfumes, and lotions, together with ancillary training and/or <br />educational program activities. <br /> <br />(7) Attic: The area found directly below the roof of a building and the ceiling of the <br />top floor. The attic shall be an uninhabitable area. <br /> <br />(8) Automobile repair: Automobile repair is the repair of motor vehicles, including <br />the repair or replacement of engines and transmissions, body and fender <br />repair, and the installation of non-factory installed products except those <br />permissible through automobile servicing as defined herein. <br /> <br />(9) Automobile service or automobile servicing: Automobile service or automobile <br />servicing is the servicing and minor repair of motor vehicles, including the <br />replacement of belts, hoses, batteries, tires, shock absorbers, oil and air filters, <br />chassis lubrication, air conditioning servicing, wheel alignments, replacement <br />of brake pads, and engine tune-ups. <br /> <br />(10) Bank, financial institution: An establishment for the custody, loan, exchange <br />or issue of money, for the extension of credit, and for facilitating the <br />transmission of funds. Excludes check cashers as defined by California Civil <br />Code section 1789.31. <br /> <br />(11) Basement: That portion of a building between floor and ceiling which is either <br />totally or partly below grade and in compliance with the definition of basement <br />established in the California Building Code (CBC). <br /> <br />(12) Block: An area of land within a subdivision which area is entirely bounded by <br />streets, highways or ways, excepts alley and the exterior boundary of the <br />subdivision. <br /> <br />(13) Building Height: The vertical extent of a building measured in stories to the <br />eave of the highest story, not including a basement or an attic. Height limits <br />do not apply to masts, belfries, clock towers, steeples, equipment screening, <br />chimney flues, and similar structures. Building height shall be measured from <br />the average grade of the fronting thoroughfare curb level. <br /> <br />(14) Building Placement: The maximum horizontal envelope available for placing <br />a building on a lot. <br /> <br />(15) Building Type: A structure defined by the combination of configuration and <br />placement. The building types used in this Article are listed below: <br /> <br />a. Bungalow Court: A configuration of freestanding single units arranged <br />around a common, shared courtyard that is wholly open to the street. The <br />individual buildings are arranged next to each other to form the bungalow <br />court building type. <br />
