Zuniga, Diana
From: Noelle Carney Campbell <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 3:25 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Public Opinion regarding Mayor Valerie Amezcua
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
First, I want to acknowledge Councilmember Penaloza for helping ensure that a local business damaged by
SAPID had proper boarding and will receive support to fix their windows. His genuine support for the
community should not go unrecognized.
I also want to praise Councilmember Hernandez and Councilwoman Lopez for marching with their community
and consistently providing resources during such difficult times. We see you, and we thank you.
Now, Mayor Valerie Amezcua.
I've been watching you for years, and what you've done recently only continues to track and I'm connecting the
dots.
When you were Santa Ana unified school board president, you prioritized and heavily funded school police.
When you ran for mayor, your campaign was largely funded by SAPID.
When teacher layoffs were happening this year, you showed up to protest. Why? Because you hate our current
board members, most of whom are progressive and liberal. Then you attended Segerstrom's baseball senior
night not out of support, but out of spite. I know, because I met you there. You told me you were a fan of my
videos criticizing the board, and that you hated them. And the political figure I saw you buddy buddy with?
Brenda Lebsack, a homophobic transphobic bible obsessed MAGA school board member who writes scripts
for her church friends to come read at our school board meetings attacking our school libraries.
And now, when your community gathers peacefully to protest ICE, you went on social media to back the blue,
blame the protestors, and throw jabs at your fellow councilmembers. Why? Because you hate them, too.
Then, when the community reacted to your statement, you didn't reflect, you made yourself the victim and are
spreading a rumor about fellow councilmembers using gangs to intimidate you. And then, instead of reading
the room, you posted a strange video about religious support in difficult times. Have you heard of separation of
church and state?
Now, here is where I connect the dots. This is the playbook we're seeing from well-known MAGA leaders
across the country. And MAGA as we obviously know, is anti-immigrant.
So I can only assume: you have no real desire to protect your immigrant community. You haven't shown it. You
say police dollars won't be used to help ICE, but SAPID are standing alongside the National Guard in our public
spaces and kicking people out of parks in broad daylight who are just trying to learn about what's happening in
their own community.
You say you must represent all of Santa Ana. You say both sides must come together and "choose love."
These days, that kind of language usually comes from the oppressor.
And that's why I firmly believe: It's time to recall Mayor Valerie Amezcua.
i
