MOVING PROCESS <br />Notification <br />If a family wishes to move to a new unit, the family must notify the PHA and the owner before <br />moving out of the old unit or terminating the lease on notice to the owner [24 CFR <br />982.354(d)(2)]. If the family wishes to move to a unit outside the PHA’s jurisdiction under <br />portability, the notice to the PHA must specify the area where the family wishes to move [24 <br />CFR 982.354(d)(2)]. The notices must be in writing [24 CFR 982.5]. <br />Approval <br />SAHA Policy <br />Upon receipt of a family’s notification that it wishes to move, SAHA will determine <br />whether the move is approvable in accordance with the regulations and policies set forth <br />in sections 10-I.A and 10-I.B. Following receipt of the family’s notification, SAHA will <br />send out written approval within 7 calendar days to confirm the move out date with a <br />scheduled appointment date for the move briefing. <br />Reexamination of Family Income and Composition <br />SAHA Policy <br />For families approved to move to a new unit within SAHA’s jurisdiction, SAHA will not <br />perform a new annual reexamination in accordance with policies set forth in Chapter 11 <br />of this plan. <br />For families moving into or families approved to move out of SAHA’s jurisdiction under <br />portability, SAHA will follow the policies set forth in Part II of this chapter. <br />Voucher Issuance and Briefing <br />SAHA Policy <br />For families approved to move to a new unit within SAHA’s jurisdiction including the <br />Interjurisdictional Agreement (Mobility), SAHA will issue a new voucher within 14 <br />calendar days of SAHA’s written approval to move. A move briefing is conducted when <br />the voucher is issued. During the briefing, the following information will be provided to <br />the participant: voucher term, expiration, extension, last HAP paid, HAP extension <br />request, move policies, Lead-Based Paint, portability procedure and mobility inspection <br />procedure. The following documents will be provided to participant: copy of move <br />briefing checklist, voucher, RTA packet, and housing search log. SAHA will also follow <br />the policies set forth in Chapter 5 on voucher term, extension, and expiration. If a family <br />does not locate a new unit within the term of the voucher and any approved extensions, <br />the family may remain in its current unit with continued voucher assistance if the owner <br />agrees and SAHA approves. Otherwise, the family will lose their housing assistance. <br />For families moving into or families approved to move out of SAHA’s jurisdiction under <br />portability, SAHA will follow the policies set forth in Part II of this chapter. <br />For families moving due an owner failing to make required repairs timely, resulting in <br />SAHA terminating the HAP contract, SAHA will follow the policies set forth earlier in <br />this section and in Chapter 8, Part II. <br />EXHIBIT 1
