Zuniga, Diana
From: Joy Fire <
Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2025 2:42 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Item #32
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
To whom it may concern,
I would like to voice my strong support for item#32 on the Council agenda for Tuesday,July 1. 1 am a small business
owner in Santa Ana and am deeply troubled and saddened by the recent activity of law enforcement in the city that I
love. Both Santa Ana police and ICE and other federal officers. I know people that are staying home right now out of fear
for their safety, and I can only image the deep trauma that the possibility of masked agents coming to take their parents
is having on the children and young people of this city. This agenda item is also in line with actions being taken at the
federal level, co-authored by Congressman Lou Correa,to demand more lawful accountability called the No Secret Police
Act. State lawmakers have proposed related legislation with SIB 805 and SIB 627. Direct actions must be taken to preserve
the basic rights of everyone in our community before they are violated even further.
You were elected to lead by our residents, and I urge you to take action that demonstrates that leadership tonight.
Move forward to demand that all law enforcement wear visible identification and a ban on wearing masks that
conceal their identities when engaged with the public.
With respect,
Joy Brenneman (she/her)
i
