If the amount of assistance excluded under Title IV of the HEA is less than the actual <br />covered costs, SAHA will exclude the amount of other student financial assistance up to <br />the amount of the remaining actual covered costs. <br />Example 3 <br /> Actual covered costs: $22,000 <br /> Title IV HEA assistance: $15,000 <br /> The remaining amount not covered by Title IV HEA assistance <br />is $7,000 ($22,000 in actual covered costs - $15,000 in Title IV <br />HEA assistance). <br /> Other Student Financial Assistance: $5,000 <br /> $7,000 in remaining actual covered costs - $5,000 in other <br />financial assistance <br /> Excluded income: $15,000 entire amount of the Title IV HEA <br />Assistance + $5,000 in other financial assistance <br /> Included income: $0 <br /> <br />Example 4 <br /> Actual covered costs: $18,000 <br /> Title IV HEA Assistance: $15,000 <br /> The remaining amount not covered by Title IV HEA assistance is <br />$3,000 ($18,000 in actual covered costs - $15,000 in Title IV <br />HEA Assistance) <br /> Other student Financial Assistance: $5,000 <br /> When other student financial assistance is applied, financial <br />assistance exceeds actual covered costs by $2,000 ($3,000 in actual <br />covered costs - $5,000 in other financial assistance). <br /> Included income: $2,000 (the amount by which the financial aid <br />exceeds the student's actual covered costs). <br />EXHIBIT 1
