ADDITIONAL LOCAL REQUIREMENTS [24 CFR 5.705(a)(3) and <br />Notice PIH 2024-26] <br />The PHA may impose variations to the NSPIRE standards as long as the additional criteria are <br />not likely to adversely affect the health or safety of participant families or severely restrict <br />housing choices for families. HUD approval is required for variations to NSPIRE standards and <br />approved variations must be added to the administrative plan. <br />HUD may approve inspection criteria variations if the variations apply standards in local housing <br />codes or other codes adopted by the PHA or because of local climatic or geographic conditions. <br />Acceptability criteria variations may only be approved by HUD if such variations either meet or <br />exceed the performance requirements or significantly expand affordable housing opportunities <br />for families assisted under the program. <br />SAHA Policy <br />SAHA has not requested any HUD-approved variations to NSPIRE standards. <br /> <br />EXHIBIT 1
