TENANT SCREENING <br />The PHA has no liability or responsibility to the owner or other persons for the family’s behavior <br />or suitability for tenancy [24 CFR 982.307(a)(1)]. <br />The PHA may elect to screen applicants for family behavior or suitability for tenancy. See <br />Chapter 3 for a discussion of the PHA’s policies with regard to screening applicant families for <br />program eligibility [24 CFR 982.307(a)(1)]. <br />The owner is responsible for screening and selection of the family to occupy the owner’s unit. At <br />or before PHA approval of the tenancy, the PHA must inform the owner that screening and <br />selection for tenancy is the responsibility of the owner [24 CFR 982.307(a)(2)]. The PHA <br />must also inform the owner or manager or their rights and obligations under the Violence against <br />Women Act (VAWA) [24 CFR 5.2005(a)(2)]. <br />The PHA must provide the owner with the family’s current and prior address (as shown in the <br />PHA records) and the name and address (if known to the PHA) of the landlord at the family’s <br />current and prior address [24 CFR 982.307(b)(1)]. <br />The PHA is permitted, but not required, to offer the owner other information in the PHA’s <br />possession about the tenancy history or drug trafficking of family members [24 CFR <br />982.307(b)(2)]. <br />The PHA’s policy on providing information to the owner must be included in the family’s <br />briefing packet [24 CFR 982.307(b)(3)]. <br />The PHA may not disclose to the owner any confidential information provided by the family in <br />response to a PHA request for documentation of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual <br />assault, stalking, or human trafficking, except at the written request or with the written consent of <br />the individual providing the documentation [see 24 CFR 5.2007(b)(4)]. <br />SAHA Policy <br />SAHA will not screen applicants for family behavior or suitability for tenancy. <br />SAHA will not provide additional screening information to the owner. <br />EXHIBIT 1
