CITY COUNCIL 22 JULY 1, 2025 <br /> <br />MINUTES: Councilmember Hernandez spoke in support of the item and thanked <br />staff for being proactive. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua spoke in support of the item and requested the Council send out <br />letters to federal representatives. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lopez thanked staff for their hard work and spoke in support of the <br />item. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bacerra spoke regarding protests in the City and the unnecessary <br />and aggressive tactics used by the National Guard, the apprehension of resident s <br />with no criminal history and the limitation the City has when the federal government <br />is involved. Consider a Temporary Program of Financial Assistance for Families Impacted <br />by Federal Immigration Enforcement Actions <br /> <br />Department(s): City Manager’s Office <br /> <br />Recommended Action: Direct the City Manager to establish an Emergency <br />Assistance Program for Families Impacted by Immigration Enforcement funded by <br />up to $1 million of existing FY25-26 budget allocated for City Events. <br /> <br />MINUTES: Mayor Amezcua announced Sister City Sahuayo has donated $50,000 <br />to provide financial assistance, provided a summary of the item, and expressed <br />concern for the immediate need for assistance in the community .
