Nursing Assistant Training Program <br /> Conceptual Framework <br /> The conceptual framework of LGL College Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program <br /> is adapted from: <br /> 1, Neuman's Systems Model - a nursing theory based on the client's relationship to <br /> The <br /> e of Neuman's Systems Model provides the main conceptual framework of the <br /> VN curriculum as it defines and relates the client, the nurse, health, and the <br /> environment. <br /> 2. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs—a psychological theory depicted in the shag <br /> of a pyramid with the largest, most fundamental levels of needs at the bottom <br /> and the need for self.-actualization at the top. It is used to identify <br /> commonalities, diversities, and eccentricities of client needs which the nurse <br /> has to consider in order to provide client-centered care. It is also used to <br /> categorize client needs according to priority to guide nursing care. <br /> 3. Erikson's Psychosocial Stages of Development—a developmental theory <br /> explaining the eight stages (infancy to late adulthood) through which a health ly <br /> developing human should pass - in each stage, the person confronts, and <br /> hopefully masters, new challenges. It is used to complete the definition of the <br /> client as a unique, holistic being by identifying life sp an-relate d issues which 1he <br /> nurse must consider when caring for the client. <br /> 4. Social Cognitive Theory—Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) started as the Socia <br /> Learning Theory (SLT) in the 1960s by Albert Bandura. It developed into the SC <br /> in 1986 and posits that learning occurs in a social context with a dynamic and <br /> reciprocal interaction of the person, environment, and behavior. The unique feature <br /> of SCT is the emphasis on social influence and its emphasis on external and inter ial <br /> social reinforcement. SCT considers the unique way in which individuals acqui e <br /> and maintain behavior,while also considering the social environment in which <br /> individuals perform the behavior. The theory takes into account a person past <br /> experiences,which factor into whether behavioral action will occur. These past <br /> experiences influences reinforcements, expectations, and expectancies, all of whi h <br /> shape whether a person will engage in a specific behavior and the reasons why a <br /> person engages in that behavior. <br /> 5. Diffusion of Innovation —Diffusion of Innovation(DOI)Theory, developed by <br /> E.M. Rogers in 1962, is one of the oldest social science theories. It originated in <br /> communication to explain how, over time, an idea or product gains momentum a d <br /> diffuses (or spreads)through a specific population or social system. The end resu t <br /> idea,-of this diff-usi-en is ew <br /> behavior,or product. Adoption means that a person does something differently <br /> than what they had previously (i.e.,purchase or use a new product, acquire and <br /> perform a new behavior, etc.). The key to adoption is that the person must perceive <br /> the idea, behavior, or product as new or innovative.
