Semi- <br />automatic, 3-round burst shots or full auto action. Select-fire electronic <br />firing system with a firing rate of 10-12 RPS. Compact lightweight modular <br />design. Ambidextrous rotational safety switch. 30 Cubic inch high capacity <br />high-pressure air system. Designed for use with high-pressure air. <br />(b)PepperBall INERT Powder Projectiles, cost: $375 for a case of 375, <br />quantity: 2 cases. Inert projectiles used for training purposes. <br />(c)PepperBAll LIVE PAVA (OC), cost: $853 for a case of 375, quantity: <br />2 cases. The basic PepperBall projectile, it contains 2% PAVA, and is <br />excellent for direct impact and area saturation, especially in confined, <br />interior spaces. <br />(d)PepperBall LIVE-X PAVA (OC), cost: $1,123 for a case of 375, quantity: <br />1 case. Our most potent and powerful concentration of PAVA pepper <br />powder. One round of LIVE-X™ contains the equivalent to 10 regular <br />PepperBall rounds. <br />2.Purpose: To limit the escalation of conflict where employment of lethal force is <br />prohibited or undesirable. Situations for the use of PepperBall may include, but <br />are not limited to: <br />(a)Tactical situations involving the deployment of the Department's SWAT <br />Team <br />(b)Training exercises or approved demonstrations. <br />(c)Potentially vicious animals. <br />(d)Circumstances where a tactical advantage can be obtained. <br />(e)Riot/crowd control and civil unrest incidents where the criminal behavior <br />involved exceeds a failure to disburse or curfew violation. <br />(f)Self-destructive, dangerous, and/or combative individuals. <br />3.Authorized Use: Only SWAT officers who have received certification in the <br />use of chemical agents, less-lethal, and PepperBall are authorized to use <br />PepperBall. <br />4.Lifespan: <br />(a)PepperBall TAC-SF Launcher: 20 years <br />(b)All PepperBall projectiles have a lifespan of 3 years. <br />5.Fiscal Impact: Annual maintenance for the PepperBall launchers is <br />approximately $50. <br />6.Training: SWAT Team members are training in the use and deployment of <br />chemical agents, less-lethal, and the PepperBall launcher.  <br />  <br />City Council 10 – 54 8/19/2025
