Pre-Action Valve <br />x The prime water level in pre-action systems shall be tested for compliance <br />with the manufacturer’s recommendations <br />x Low air pressure alarms shall be tested for compliance with the <br />manufacturer’s recommendations <br />x Valves shall be trip tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s <br />recommendations <br /> <br />8. Pre-Action/Deluge Valves <br />x During the annual trip test, the interior of the valves shall be cleaned <br />thoroughly and parts repaired or replaced as necessary <br /> <br />9. Hose Connections <br />x Flush all roof outlets <br /> <br />10. Hose and Nozzles <br />x Inspect that fire hose is not damaged or mildewed <br />x Inspect for current hydrostatic test dates or installation dates <br />x Verify fire hose station is free from exterior obstructions (maintain 36” access) <br />x Verify rack or reel rotates freely <br />x Verify fire hose is properly racked <br />x Verify fire hose nozzle is the correct type, functional, and not missing <br />x Inspect nozzle gaskets are not missing or deteriorated <br />Fire Mains <br />1. Hydrants <br />x Fully open and flow water until all foreign material has cleared <br />x Maintain flow for at least one minute <br />x Record flow rate by use of a Pitot tube flow measurement <br />x Exercise hydrant valves for proper operation <br /> <br />2. Backflow Preventer Assemblies <br />x Inspect DCA & DCDA to ensure the OS&Y valves are in the open position <br />x Verify valves are locked/supervised <br />Fire Pumps <br />1. Control Valve – Position and Operation <br />x All valves shall be operated through their full range of motion <br />x Lubricate all OS&Y valve stems <br /> <br />2. Pump Operation <br />x Test Pump System: Check pump shaft end play <br />x Test Pump System: Check accuracy of pressure gauges and sensors <br />x Test Pump System: Check pump coupling alignment <br /> <br /> <br />City Council 18 – 28 8/19/2025
