Receive and file the Santa Ana Police Department’s Annual Military Equipment Use <br />reports for 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 for existing equipment. <br />2. Review and affirm Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-3020. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />On May 17, 2022, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. NS-3020 amending Section <br />2-809 of Article VII.II of Chapter 2 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code adopting a policy for <br />the use of military equipment by the Santa Ana Police Department pursuant to California <br />Assembly Bill (AB) 481 (Government Code Sections 7070 et seq.). <br />AB 481 and Santa Ana City Ordinance NS-3020 require the following actions: <br />1. The Santa Ana Police Department shall submit an annual Military Equipment Use <br />Report containing the information required in Government Code Section 7072; <br />2. The Santa Ana Police Department shall post the annual report on the Department’s <br />website; <br />3. Within 30 days of submitting and publicly posting the report, the Santa Ana Police <br />Department shall hold a community engagement meeting. <br />4. The City Council shall review the ordinance and vote on whether to renew it.
