FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />Resolution No. 2024-XX <br />Page 1 of 10 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XX <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1904 NORTH HELIOTROPE <br />DRIVE (HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION <br />APPLICATION NO. 2023-10) <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />finds, determines and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. Bejay and Laura Magnusen (“Applicants”) are requesting approval of <br />Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 2023-10 to allow exterior <br />modifications to the property at 1904 North Heliotrope Drive, historically <br />known as the Elliott House. <br />B. The legal owners of the property are Bejay Magnusen and Laura <br />Magnusen, husband and wife as community property with right of <br />survivorship. <br />C. The legal description for the subject property is attached hereto as Exhibit <br />A and incorporated by this reference as though fully set forth herein. <br />D. The Elliott House is a contributor to the National Register-listed Floral Park <br />Historic District and is individually listed as No. 332 on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties and categorized as “Landmark” in 2003. <br />A. The Elliott House was originally built in 1931 and is architecturally significant <br />as an Italian Renaissance Revival style residence. Character-defining <br />exterior features of the Elliott House that should be preserved include, but <br />may not be limited to, materials and finishes; roof configuration, materials, <br />and detailing; massing; windows and doors; terrace, balconies and arcades; <br />chimney; architectural details such as arches, columns, capitals, impost <br />moldings, wing wall, garage; and original landscape features such as the <br />palm trees and concrete paths. <br />B. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 30-6, no exterior physical <br />modifications, other than those identified by the Historic Resources <br />Commission for administrative approval by city staff, shall be permitted with <br />respect to a historic structure until the Historic Resources Commission <br />approves such request at a duly noticed public hearing and issues a <br />certificate of appropriateness.
